I chose UCSF for residency because: Not too small, not too big. Really strong support and research opportunities in both primary care and subspecialty fields. An exciting departure from East Coast life, but not too daunting of a change. Great career opportunities for my significant other. On interview day, I felt there was a genuine, strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion, which was important to me in choosing a program.

I chose UCSF for residency because: Because ITS AMAZING! The people are exactly what I was hoping for - fun, friendly, kind, loving, compassionate people who are also super smart and challenge each other to provide the most up to date, evidence based care. I love my class and feel so lucky to work with such incredible people. From the nurses to the attendings to the child life specialists, people at UCSF care about their patients. The structure of the residency program, the scheduling, the chiefs, and the teaching are also fantastic. I have learned so much and grown so much as a physician alongside great colleagues. You'll receive a lecture at noon conference one day and two days later you will see that problem in the hospital or clinic. I also liked that UCSF encouraged all residents to choose their own passions and follow their own paths and you can get involved in whatever you are interested in.

I chose UCSF for residency because: So many reasons, but at the end of the day I think the people who make up our program are kind and thoughtful individuals who bring their best selves to care for patents, and also care for and support each other. A lot has changed over these three years of residency, but that has not. It's the best part about our program.
